Heather CannonHeather Cannon is a passionate aviator and accomplished business leader based in Ponca City, Oklahoma. She began her aviation journey in 2003 and holds Commercial, Instrument, Multi-Engine, and Seaplane ratings, along with endorsements for Tailwheel, High Performance, and Complex aircraft. She regularly flies in support of her business, training, and charitable initiatives—including more than 100 Young Eagles flights through the EAA. Professionally, Heather is the owner of Heather Cannon Honda, where she has built a respected reputation since joining Honda in 2003. She began her career in the automotive industry in 1992 and has earned numerous accolades, including DealerRater – Oklahoma Honda Dealer of the Year, Ponca City Citizen of the Year, 2024 Ponca City Main Street Hero, and Ponca City Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year. She also served on the National Advisory Board for American Honda Motor Company for Parts and Service, helping shape strategy and direction across dealerships nationwide. Heather holds degrees in Aviation Management and Air Traffic Control from Miami Dade University and Oklahoma State University, where she also earned her Multi-Engine rating. She is a proud supporter and alumna of OSU—in the fall, you can find her tailgating at all the local Cowboy games—Go Pokes! She currently serves as the PMOPA SEF Auction Chair and sits on several boards, including the Ponca City Airport Board and Poncan Theater Foundation. Heather is a two-time PMOPA Master Aviator and has been featured in PMOPA Magazine and NBAA's Business Aviation Insider. A dedicated safety advocate, she continues to pursue recurrent training, Garmin avionics courses, and high-altitude physiology programs. Flying is a family affair—her daughter, Caitlin, is also a pilot and currently attending OU Law. Heather is married to Michael Mattera, her trusted right-seat companion and enthusiastic non-licensed co-pilot. Together, they split their time between Ponca City, OK and Spruce Creek Airport in Florida, a fly-in community they call their second home. They currently fly a Piper M600 SLS, having previously flown the M500, and before that, a Cessna 182 they owned for 19 years. Outside of aviation and business, Heather enjoys scuba diving, beach life, and staying involved in her community. She is an active member of Saint Luke Church of the Nazarene, AOPA, EAA, Ponca City Lions Club, Ponca City Ambucs Charity Angels, Ponca City Aviation Booster Club, N.A.D.A., and the Oklahoma State University Alumni Association. |
